Specific areas of practice include:

Dedication, Practicality, and Integrity

Steven Riker, Esq., the principal of the firm, is well-known as a tireless, dedicated, and highly effective advocate for his clients. He devotes great time and effort to both educate his clients, and advocate on behalf of their interests, and takes a practical, common-sense approach to each representation. At each initial client meeting, Mr. Riker will review the new matter analytically, and in significant detail. At such time, he will give an honest and straightforward assessment of the case or transaction, develop a strategy, and gauge the probability of success, forever mindful of the costs involved. While legal fees cannot always be predicted with certainty, Mr. Riker believes that a discussion of the likely effort needed to achieve his client’s goals should be had at the inception of the representation, to ensure that the client is well-informed, and further, to ensure that the client’s goals can realistically be met in a cost-effective and minimally disruptive manner, whether to his/her business or personal life. All options are explored when addressing business disputes, including litigation, settlement, and mediation, and all decisions are made in full consultation with the client. Thus, at the heart of each and every representation, is a principled belief that open and honest communications are necessary for a successful outcome, and Mr. Riker encourages and fosters such an environment with all of his clients.

Since being admitted to practice law in 1994, Mr. Riker’s reputation for integrity and vigorous representation of his clients has steadily grown throughout the New York metropolitan area. For this reason, he frequently receives referrals from other attorneys, court personnel, and even judges. Mr. Riker also receives court appointments from Supreme Court and Surrogate’s Court justices to represent minors and incapacitated individuals in litigation matters. Due to his zealous advocacy and scrupulous decorum, Mr. Riker has even been called upon to represent former justices, prominent attorneys, and their families in their own legal disputes. As a consequence of his recognized knowledge and expertise, Mr Riker has also been requested to lecture at Continuing Legal Education seminars on litigation and real estate topics to other lawyers.
